Description
Van Gogh’s Les Alyscamps, hand-painted in oil
Painted in Arles in the autumn of 1888, while Gauguin worked beside him, Les Alyscamps shows the ancient Roman burial avenue of the same name, its tall trees blazing orange and gold, strewing the path with leaves, with strolling couples below. Van Gogh painted several views of this atmospheric old road in rich, flat colour and bold outline, a warm, decorative vision of autumn in the south.
Our version is a hand-painted oil reproduction, brushed onto canvas by a senior studio artist so the golden trees and warm path keep the mood of the original.
Where an autumn avenue belongs
Its warm oranges and golds suit a living room, a study or a hallway, and pair beautifully with wood and warm light.
