Description
Van Gogh’s Vase with Five Sunflowers, hand-painted in oil
Painted in Arles in 1888, this is one of the celebrated sunflower still lifes Van Gogh made to decorate the Yellow House for Gauguin’s arrival. Five great blooms, some full, some going to seed, blaze in layered golds and ochres against a warm ground. For Van Gogh the sunflower stood for gratitude and warmth, and few pictures carry as much pure sunshine.
Our version is a hand-painted oil reproduction, brushed onto canvas by a senior studio artist so the layered golds and thick petals keep the warmth of the original.
Where Sunflowers belongs
Instantly warming, it lifts a kitchen, a dining room, a hallway or a living room, and flatters both bright and traditional rooms.
