Description
Van Gogh’s The House of Pere Pilon, hand-painted in oil
Painted at Auvers-sur-Oise in 1890, in the last weeks of his life, this shows the house of Père Pilon, a villager, its walls and roof set among fresh green trees and gardens under a bright sky, with a figure nearby. Van Gogh painted many of the old houses of Auvers in these final months; here the warm walls, deep green foliage and blue sky are worked in his vigorous, rhythmic strokes, a bright, life-filled corner of the village.
Our version is a hand-painted oil reproduction, brushed onto canvas by a senior studio artist so the old house and vigorous strokes keep the vitality of the original.
Where a village scene belongs
Its warm walls and fresh greens suit a living room, a kitchen or a bright hallway, and pair beautifully with wood, greenery and natural light.
