Description
Van Gogh’s The Langlois Bridge, hand-painted in oil
Painted in Arles in the spring of 1888, The Langlois Bridge is one of Van Gogh’s best-loved southern scenes: a small wooden drawbridge spanning a canal of clear blue water, a horse and cart crossing and washerwomen at the bank below. The bridge reminded him of the canals of his native Holland, and he painted it several times in fresh, clean colour under a bright sky, sunny, crisp and full of the light of Provence.
Our version is a hand-painted oil reproduction, brushed onto canvas by a senior studio artist so the blue canal, wooden bridge and clean light keep the freshness of the original.
Where this famous bridge belongs
Bright and cheerful, it suits a living room, a bathroom, a kitchen or a hallway, and pairs happily with white walls, wood and warm light.
