Description
Van Gogh’s Trees in the Garden of Saint-Paul Hospital, hand-painted in oil
Painted at Saint-Rémy in 1889, this looks up the great pine trunks of the asylum garden, their scaly bark and spreading branches rising against a warm sky, with the paths and grass below. Van Gogh painted this enclosed world many times through his year there; here the towering trunks and rich autumn colour are worked in his rhythmic, curling strokes, a warm, immersive view of the garden he knew so well.
Our version is a hand-painted oil reproduction, brushed onto canvas by a senior studio artist so the great trunks and rhythmic strokes keep the feeling of the original.
Where a garden scene belongs
Its warm, leafy tones suit a living room, a study or a bright hallway, and pair beautifully with wood, greenery and natural light.
