Description
Van Gogh’s Undergrowth, hand-painted in oil
Painted at Saint-Rémy in 1889, Undergrowth fills the canvas with slender tree trunks rising from a dense carpet of ivy and green undergrowth in the asylum grounds, with no sky, only a screen of trunks and foliage. Van Gogh loved these immersive, close-up woodland views, painting the tangled greens with quick, dabbed strokes, a cool green world seen from within, alive with light.
Our version is a hand-painted oil reproduction, brushed onto canvas by a senior studio artist so the trunks and green undergrowth keep the freshness of the original.
Where a green woodland belongs
Its cool, immersive greens suit a bedroom, a living room or a bright hallway, and pair beautifully with pale walls, wood and greenery.
