Description
Van Gogh’s Vase with Honesty, hand-painted in oil
Painted in Nuenen around 1884, Vase with Honesty shows the dried, silvery seed-pods of the honesty plant, their papery translucent discs catching the light, arranged in a simple earthenware jug against a dark ground. Van Gogh loved these humble autumn plants and painted them in the warm browns and soft silver-greys of his Dutch period, a quiet, tender still life.
Our version is a hand-painted oil reproduction, brushed onto canvas by a senior studio artist so the silvery pods and dark ground keep the character of the original.
Where a soft still life belongs
Its warm browns and silver suit a study, a hallway, a bedroom or a living room, and pair well with wood and warm light.
