Description
Van Gogh’s Water Mill at Opwetten, hand-painted in oil
Painted around 1884 near Nuenen, Water Mill at Opwetten shows another of the old watermills Van Gogh loved to paint in the countryside of North Brabant, this one half-shaded by trees over its stream. Worked in warm, earthy colour, it is a quiet, grounded scene of the rural Netherlands he knew so well.
Our version is a hand-painted oil reproduction, brushed onto canvas by a senior studio artist so the shaded mill and earthy tones keep the mood of the original.
Where a rustic scene belongs
Its warm, natural tones suit a study, a hallway or a rustic living room, and pair naturally with wood, stone and warm light.
