Description
Van Gogh’s Weaver Facing Right, Half-Figure, hand-painted in oil
Painted in Nuenen in 1884, this close half-figure shows a weaver turned to the right at his loom, his hands and face caught among the threads and beams of the machine. Van Gogh made a whole series of the Brabant weavers, drawing near to study the intent, absorbed labour of the craft; here the half-length view and warm earth tones give the working figure a quiet, focused intimacy.
Our version is a hand-painted oil reproduction, brushed onto canvas by a senior studio artist so the weaver and warm tones keep the character of the original.
Where a working scene belongs
Its dark, earthy tones suit a study, a hallway or a considered interior, and pair well with wood and warm light.
