Description
Van Gogh’s The Wheat Field behind Saint-Paul’s Hospital, hand-painted in oil
Painted at Saint-Rémy in 1889, this shows the walled wheat field just behind the Saint-Paul asylum, which Van Gogh could see from his window and painted many times through the seasons. Here the field of ripening wheat rolls back to the enclosing wall and the hills beyond, all worked in his rhythmic strokes of gold, green and blue, a warm, intimate view of the small world he inhabited.
Our version is a hand-painted oil reproduction, brushed onto canvas by a senior studio artist so the walled field and rhythmic strokes keep the feeling of the original.
Where a field landscape belongs
Its warm, golden tones suit a living room, a study or a hallway, and pair beautifully with warm woods and natural light.
