Description
Van Gogh’s Wheat Field with Cornflowers, hand-painted in oil
Painted at Auvers-sur-Oise in the summer of 1890, in the last weeks of his life, this immersive close-up shows a field of green and gold wheat scattered with bright blue cornflowers and red poppies, seen low among the stalks. Van Gogh loved these intimate, all-over views of the summer field bursting with life; here the wheat and flowers are worked in quick, rhythmic strokes, a fresh, teeming picture of the field in flower.
Our version is a hand-painted oil reproduction, brushed onto canvas by a senior studio artist so the wheat and cornflowers keep the vitality of the original.
Where a field study belongs
Its fresh greens, golds and blues suit a bedroom, a living room or a bright hallway, and pair beautifully with pale walls, wood and greenery.
