Description
Van Gogh’s Wheat Fields after the Rain, hand-painted in oil
Painted at Auvers-sur-Oise in the summer of 1890, in the last weeks of his life, this sweeping landscape shows the wide plain of Auvers, its patchwork of green and gold fields washed fresh and glistening after a fall of rain, under a clearing sky. Van Gogh loved these vast, open views of the cultivated country; here the rain-cleaned fields are worked in firm, rhythmic strokes, calm and luminous.
Our version is a hand-painted oil reproduction, brushed onto canvas by a senior studio artist so the wide fields and fresh light keep the feeling of the original.
Where a plain landscape belongs
Its calm, fresh greens and golds suit a living room, a study or a hallway, and pair beautifully with wood and warm light.
