Description
Van Gogh’s Wheat Fields with Auvers in the Background, hand-painted in oil
Painted at Auvers-sur-Oise in the summer of 1890, in the last weeks of his life, this shows broad fields of ripe wheat rolling toward the rooftops and church of the village of Auvers on the horizon, under a wide sky. Van Gogh painted several of these panoramic views of the fields and village; here the golden wheat and distant roofs are worked in firm, rhythmic strokes, a calm, expansive picture of the summer country.
Our version is a hand-painted oil reproduction, brushed onto canvas by a senior studio artist so the wheat fields and village keep the feeling of the original.
Where a plain landscape belongs
Its warm golds and calm greens suit a living room, a study or a hallway, and pair beautifully with wood and warm light.
