Description
Van Gogh’s Willows at Sunset, hand-painted in oil
Painted in Arles in 1888, Willows at Sunset sets a row of pollarded willow stumps against an enormous orange sun sinking over the fields. Van Gogh loaded the canvas with thick, blazing strokes of yellow, orange and green, the light almost dissolving the trees into fire, a small, fierce study of the charged, dazzling light of a Provence sunset.
Our version is a hand-painted oil reproduction, brushed onto canvas by a senior studio artist so the blazing sun and fiery colour keep the intensity of the original.
Where a fiery sunset belongs
Warm and dramatic, it makes a statement in a living room, a study or above a sofa, and pairs beautifully with warm woods and rich interiors.
