Description
Van Gogh’s A Wheatfield with Cypresses, hand-painted in oil
Painted at Saint-Rémy in 1889, this is one of Van Gogh’s most celebrated landscapes. A field of golden wheat rolls back to blue-green olive trees and the wave-like Alpilles hills, while great dark cypresses rise like green flames at the right, all beneath a sky of rolling, swirling clouds. Everything moves in his rhythmic, surging strokes, one of the supreme landscapes of his southern year.
Our version is a hand-painted oil reproduction, brushed onto canvas by a senior studio artist so the wheat, cypresses and swirling sky keep the power of the original.
Where a masterwork landscape belongs
Bold and radiant, it makes a statement in a living room, a study or a stairwell, and pairs beautifully with warm woods and considered interiors.
