Description
Van Gogh’s Almond Blossom, hand-painted in oil
Almond Blossom is one of Van Gogh’s most tender and joyful paintings. He made it in Saint-Rémy in early 1890 to celebrate the birth of his brother Theo’s son, named Vincent after him: branches of white almond blossom, the first tree to flower in spring, reaching across a clear blue sky. The flat blue ground and bold outlines show his deep love of Japanese prints, and the whole picture is a symbol of new life.
Our version is a hand-painted oil reproduction, brushed onto canvas by a senior studio artist so the delicate blossoms, luminous blue and calm, decorative design keep the serenity of the original.
Where Almond Blossom belongs
Fresh, peaceful and full of hope, it is perfect for a bedroom, a nursery, a bathroom or a bright living room, and its blue-and-white palette sits beautifully against pale walls, wood and greenery.
