Description
Van Gogh’s The Langlois Bridge at Arles, hand-painted in oil
Painted soon after Van Gogh reached Arles in 1888, this shows the little wooden Langlois drawbridge over the canal, with a horse and cart crossing and women kneeling to wash clothes on the near bank. The bridge reminded him of the Holland of his youth, and he painted it several times; here the bright blue water, yellow banks and clear southern light give it a fresh, cheerful clarity.
Our version is a hand-painted oil reproduction, brushed onto canvas by a senior studio artist so the drawbridge and bright water keep the freshness of the original.
Where a bright riverside scene belongs
Its clear blues and yellows suit a living room, a kitchen or a bright hallway, and pair beautifully with pale walls, wood and natural light.
