Description
Van Gogh’s Mountains at Saint-Remy, hand-painted in oil
Painted in 1889 during his year at the asylum, Mountains at Saint-Rémy shows the rugged, rolling peaks of the Alpilles rising above a small hut and dark bushes, the whole landscape worked in thick, swirling strokes of green, ochre and violet. Van Gogh saw these mountains as living, heaving forms; the picture surges with the same restless energy as The Starry Night, one of his most powerful and elemental landscapes.
Our version is a hand-painted oil reproduction, brushed onto canvas by a senior studio artist so the surging mountains and swirling strokes keep the power of the original.
Where a dramatic landscape belongs
Bold and elemental, it makes a statement in a living room, a study or a stairwell, and pairs well with warm woods and considered interiors.
