Description
Van Gogh’s Portrait of Adeline Ravoux, hand-painted in oil
Painted at Auvers-sur-Oise in 1890, this portrait shows Adeline Ravoux, the thirteen-year-old daughter of the innkeeper in whose house Van Gogh lodged in his final weeks. He set her in profile, in a blue dress against a blue ground with a ribbon at her throat, painted in cool, quiet colour, a tender, dignified image of a young girl on the edge of adulthood.
Our version is a hand-painted oil reproduction, brushed onto canvas by a senior studio artist so the cool blues and quiet dignity keep the feeling of the original.
Where a quiet portrait belongs
Calm and dignified, it suits a living room, a study, a hallway or a girl’s room, and works well against pale, cool walls.
