Description
Van Gogh’s Two Cut Sunflowers, hand-painted in oil
Painted in Paris in 1887, Two Cut Sunflowers shows two great sunflower heads, cut and lying on a surface, their petals fading and their centres gone to seed, painted in warm golds, browns and blue. These Paris sunflower studies came before the famous Arles bouquets, and already show Van Gogh’s deep love of the flower, its warmth, its cycle of life, its blaze of yellow.
Our version is a hand-painted oil reproduction, brushed onto canvas by a senior studio artist so the seed-heads and warm colour keep the richness of the original.
Where a sunflower study belongs
Warm and characterful, it suits a kitchen, a dining room, a study or a hallway, and pairs happily with wood and warm light.
