Description
Van Gogh’s Three White Cottages in Saintes-Maries, hand-painted in oil
Painted on a trip to the fishing village of Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer in 1888, this shows a row of three low, whitewashed cottages with warm-coloured roofs against a fresh sky. Van Gogh loved the simple, brightly coloured houses of the southern coast, and painted them here in quick, vivid strokes of white, blue and orange, a lively, sun-filled glimpse of the little Mediterranean village.
Our version is a hand-painted oil reproduction, brushed onto canvas by a senior studio artist so the white cottages and vivid strokes keep the freshness of the original.
Where a village scene belongs
Its fresh, sunny colour suits a kitchen, a living room or a bright hallway, and pairs beautifully with pale walls, wood and natural light.
